Obama's proposed cuts in the military

"Ancient" and obsolete warfare from the past.
An expensive World War II German tank turned into scrap metal in seconds by 70 year old air power technology.  Fast forward to today and it gets even worse.  Ultra-expensive military equipment has become almost worthless.

It is knee-jerk politics as usual.  What is good for the nation comes in 4th or maybe 7th place.

By Gary;

Comrade Obama dared to propose cutting back a bit in the numbers of troops in the Army and Marine Corps.

What happened?  Politics as usual.  Each party for reasons of their own will knee-jerk attack the other no matter what the subject.  Listening to Republicans you would think the world could end at any moment if any type of cut is ever made in any part of military.

Bull Shit.  This Blog is about logic and clear reasoning . . . not knee-jerk non-thinking.

TECHNOLOGY -  The fact of the matter is military technology changes with the times.  For the very short period of 1939 to 1944 the tank and armored infantry support units were supreme on the battlefield.  But come June 6, 1944 those days ended forever.  With the D-Day invasions we saw the total domination of the battlefield by air power.  Allied air power turned expensive German tanks, armored vehicles and supply trucks into instant scrap metal.

Flash forward to today and military technology has gone off the charts.  Drones, IEDs, missiles, mines, jets, bombers etc. have made the battlefield a wasteland for infantry.  See our article  THE FEDERALIST - "It is time to re-organize our military."

A Force Bubble of Death.
The number of American soldiers is not as important as the technology bubble that surrounds them dealing death to enemies in all directions.  The days of large armies is over.

So the question is do we really need a large army of infantry units?

DEFENSIVE WAR  -  If our goal is to defend our friends and allies from invasion then a somewhat smaller army works.  For example, a few units sent to Kuwait that are supported by a "force field bubble" of military technology could easily defend that nation.  Simply anything that moves around our troops can be killed by a rain of death from the skies.  Hell, three terrorists sitting around a fire in a far away mountain range can be killed by remote control.  Nothing that moves is safe.

OFFENSIVE WAR  -  Some say that you still might need a large Army if you were going to fight an offensive war to conquer other nations.  But the original conquest of Afghanistan by a small force backed by air power and the recent war in Libya shows that large forces are just not needed anymore.  In fact those forces become targets for the new weapons of an enemy.

The political hacks in Washington need to shut the Hell up and put their heads together to address this shift in technology.

The future of modern warfare.
"High Tech" and inexpensive mobile infantry in Libya . . . . and they won the war with modern air power
clearing the battlefield in front of them of any meaningful enemy.

A Rain of Death from the Skies.  The days of large infantry wars are over.
