New Jersey voters to Christie: Don’t run for president

New Jersey - Clinton 50%, Christie 39%
Republicans do not need to nominate another Romney
who can't even carry his home state.

Message to Chris Christie from New Jersey voters: Stay home.

If you run for president, they told the Quinnipiac poll, a lot of us aren’t with you.

The survey released Thursday found the New Jersey governor trailing Democrat Hillary Clinton in a potential presidential matchup.

And, say New Jersey voters by a 53% to 40% margin, Christie would not make a good president.

“American voters are not ready for a ‘Jersey Guy’" president such as Christie,” the poll found reports McClatchy News.

"Even Jersey guys, actually Jersey girls, don't think the nation will go for a Jersey guy like Gov. Christopher Christie," said Maurice Carroll, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll.

“Shades of Woodrow Wilson. The last Jersey guy who got elected president did not carry the state in his 1916 reelection. And this poll shows we haven't changed in the last century.”

Anyway, they prefer the woman from nearby New York, Clinton. By a 50 to 44 percent margin, New Jersey voters said they don’t want Christie to run.

And if he does run, he’s behind Clinton, 50 to 39 percent.
